The Boryeong Mud Festival is extremely popular, especially among foreigners, and for good reason. Not only is the Boryeong Mud beneficial to the body, the festival has a large variety of fun activities that make for a great atmosphere. 

 

 

What’s all the mud fuss about?

 

During the festival, visitors flock to Boryeong to experience the beneficial properties of the soft Boryeong mud. The mud is high in Bentonite and Germanium which is beneficial to the human body. The mineral-rich Boryeong mud is even used to produce popular cosmetics and is believed to have healing qualities.

 

 

Covered in mud, festival goers can partake in mud wrestling, mud sliding and varies obstacle courses in the “mud arena”. Those looking for something more relaxed can enjoy a mud massage, or simply soak up the sun on the beach.

 

Is it just about the mud?

 

 Although the main attraction is the healthy mud, there are no expenses spared on the entertainment lineup and the fireworks display. K-pop and hip-hop performers electrify the wet and wild party on the beach, followed by fireworks displays that are truly mind-blowing. There are also a variety of cultural performances, parades and competitions throughout the duration of the festival, which confirms the events international status.

One can also find, lockers, toilets and showers which aim to make your experience as pleasant as possible. Grab a bite from one of the local food stands or from a number of restaurants in the area. Accommodation is limited, especially over the weekend, so it is advised to book in advance.
